If you are considering purchasing new wooden garden chairs, you may actually want to think about building your own.

If you just added a new garden to your home, you may be considering buying wooden garden furniture to give you the opportunity to enjoy the fruits of your labor. Likewise, perhaps you have had a garden for some time, and your garden furniture is starting to become run down and in need of a change. Well, in either case, you would most likely think about going out to your local store, or shopping online for new wooden garden furniture. While you will, without a doubt, find some great pieces of furniture, nothing would save you more money than to build your own wooden garden chairs.

If you aren’t particularly handy, building a wooden garden chair may seem to be a daunting task. However, with the appropriate equipment, and, of course, a bit of patience, you will be able to build a wooden garden chair without breaking a sweat. With that being said, head on over to your trusted toolbox, and get yourself the following items, which you will need to finish this project. You will need a drill, a drill bit, 2x10x8 pressure treated boards, goggles, measuring tape, a pencil, and lastly, a jigsaw.

Once you’ve gotten your hands on everything that you need, you are ready to get started. The first task that you must absolutely take is to put the goggles over your eyes. They may look silly, but the goggles will help prevent you from getting sawdust in your eyes as you build you new wooden garden chairs. Once you have the goggles on and secure, take the jigsaw and use it to saw the pressure-treated board. It should be divided into two very equal four-foot sections.

The second step that you should take is to get out the measuring tape, and measure a five-inch section in the middle of one of the boards. Mark this five-inch section for the entire length of the board until you are exactly ten inches away from the opposite end of the board.

The very next step that you should take is to saw out the sections that have been marked off with the pencil. You should be left with ten inches towards the end of the board that remains untouched. When this step is finished, you should have wood that looks as if it is a T. For the fourth step, you will again use your measuring tape to piece together the second board. You should saw a piece that is five and a quarter inches wide and two inches tall. You will then want to drill a hole through the center of that piece that is large enough to fit the jigsaw. This is important, as you will want to saw out the rectangle that has been marked by you.

Finally, you will take the five-inch section from the first board, and place it into the rectangular hole of the second board. Once performing this step, you will have made your own wooden garden chair, and saved yourself some money.
